Those who are baptised must be nurtured in faith, sustained by prayer, and welcomed into the worshipping and serving life of the Church and later be brought to Confirmation by the Bishop.   Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist (Holy Communion), together express the:

- turning away from darkness and sin,

- the turning to Christ and giving our lives to Him,

- the washing or immersion in the waters of baptism,

- the laying on of hands by the Bishop

- the participation in the Eucharistic family of the Church.

Rhaid i’r rhai sy’n cael eu bedyddio gael eu meithrin mewn ffydd, eu cynnal trwy weddi, a’u croesawu i fywyd addoli a gwasanaethu’r Eglwys ac yn ddiweddarach gael eu dwyn i Gonffirmasiwn gan yr Esgob. Mae Bedydd, Conffyrmasiwn ac Ewcharist (Cymun Bendigaid), gyda’i gilydd yn mynegi’r:

- troi i ffwrdd oddi wrth dywyllwch a phechod,

- y troi at Grist a rhoi ein bywydau iddo,

- golchi neu drochi yn nyfroedd bedydd,

— arddodiad dwylaw gan yr Esgob

- cymryd rhan yn nheulu Ewcharistaidd yr Eglwys.

Water is poured over the head of the candidate for baptism three times in the name of God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The act of baptism signifies our participation in the death of Jesus and in his Resurrection. As he died and was buried, we symbolically go down into the water of baptism with him. And as he rose from the dead, we symbolically come away from the water in his risen power, made new.

Mae dŵr yn cael ei dywallt dros ben yr ymgeisydd am fedydd deirgwaith yn enw Duw, y Tad, y Mab a'r Ysbryd Glân. Mae'r weithred o fedydd yn dynodi ein cyfranogiad ym marwolaeth Iesu ac yn ei Atgyfodiad. Wrth iddo farw a chael ei gladdu, rydyn ni'n symbolaidd yn mynd i lawr i ddŵr y bedydd gydag ef. Ac wrth iddo godi oddi wrth y meirw, rydym yn symbolaidd yn dod i ffwrdd o'r dŵr yn ei allu atgyfodedig, wedi'i wneud yn newydd.

The Church provides for all to be baptized in the hope and trust that the local church together with parents and godparents, in the case of infant baptism, will surround them with a living faith which will sustain them throughout their lives. The Church also provides for those who come to the Christian life anew, supporting them, informing, teaching and encouraging them as they receive the grace of the Holy Spirit.

Mae’r Eglwys yn darparu i bawb gael eu bedyddio yn y gobaith a’r hyder y bydd yr eglwys leol ynghyd â rhieni a rhieni bedydd, yn achos bedydd babanod, yn eu hamgylchynu â ffydd fyw a fydd yn eu cynnal gydol eu hoes. Mae’r Eglwys hefyd yn darparu ar gyfer y rhai sy’n dod i’r bywyd Cristnogol o’r newydd, gan eu cefnogi, eu hysbysu, eu dysgu a’u hannog wrth iddynt dderbyn gras yr Ysbryd Glân.

Baptism is only the beginning and marks the first step along a life-long journey.  Throughout this journey, if we allow Him, Jesus will transform us through His Holy Spirit for the better.  If we remain faithful to Jesus through lives of prayer, worship, reading of scripture, receiving communion, and being around other Christians, we will be amazed at what He can do.  But there will be many bumps and difficulties along the way.  That is why we need our church family around us, whether you are thinking of baptism yourself or are wanting your child to be baptised.  We are here for each other as we journey together a disciples of Jesus Christ who is our captain, brother, rescuer, and friend.  

Dim ond y dechrau yw bedydd ac mae’n nodi’r cam cyntaf ar hyd taith gydol oes. Drwy gydol y daith hon, os byddwn yn ei ganiatáu, bydd Iesu yn ein trawsnewid trwy Ei Ysbryd Glân er gwell. Os arhoswn ni’n ffyddlon i Iesu trwy fywydau o weddi, addoliad, darllen yr ysgrythur, derbyn cymun, a bod o gwmpas Cristnogion eraill, byddwn yn rhyfeddu at yr hyn y gall Ef ei wneud. Ond bydd llawer o bumps ac anawsterau ar hyd y ffordd. Dyna pam mae angen teulu ein heglwys o’n cwmpas ni, p’un a ydych chi’n meddwl am fedyddio eich hun neu’n dymuno i’ch plentyn gael ei fedyddio. Rydyn ni yma i'n gilydd wrth i ni deithio gyda'n gilydd un o ddisgyblion Iesu Grist sy'n gapten, brawd, achubwr a ffrind i ni.
